January - April 2026: Agnieszka Zagraba, *1996, Poland and Austria
"My recent work is happening on two trails - one, is digital exploration in search for metaphors of feeling - The Land of Bearing Shapes. The second is based on traditional painting techniques, where creation itself is way more spontanous. The Land of Bearing Shapes is neither entirely fictional nor real. This work is a sample of one kind of digital world, with its laws and rules taken from the 3d world. Its construction however is based on my personal observations of matter, emotions, behaviors and interpersonal games. I would like to spend the time of a residency on investigating. Bearing Shapes watercolor. Namely, possible intersection between generic, native to digital imagery and abstract watercolors. The process would involve analysis of moving human forms, flowing paint and possible symbolic meaning of both. In addition to the project, I would like to conduct watercolor workshops for community.”
