May to August 2026: Julia Holtmann, *1983, Spain and Germany

"My artistic practice evolves from a deep, almost ritual engagement with process. One of its essential pillars is the sketchbook, which I value for its intimate yet accessible nature. Spending time outdoors in nature is as fundamental to my work as drawing itself. In search of the vitality inherent in materials, I increasingly experiment with raw natural substances as mediums. In terms of format, materials, and modes of presentation, I aim to explore new paths, engaging with installative and potentially sculptural approaches around drawing. It is also important to me to make the aspects of extracting and assembling more visible, and to delve more deeply into questions of copying and layering."

During her residency, Julia Holtmann invites participants to an experimental drawing workshop: The Wondering Line – Drawing as a tool for falling into ourselves.
